This marvellous gem crystal oval opal, has great depth. The blocky pattern saturates the entire stone, with 5/5 brightness. It views well from all angles and carries a fine polish. It is large for an opal of this calibre, weighing 13.6 carats and measures 19 x 12 x 7mm. This will be suited to a high end pendant or large dress ring. This material comes from the Lambina field in South Australia, which is no longer open to mining. This material was mined in the 1990's is incredibly stable and polishes well. The pattern appears in bands and could easily be polished, to be a double sided, high dome gem.
