These are opals, that are yet to be finished. They are sometimes rubbed/grinded back, so you can see the gem and finish it yourself. Other rough, can be a gamble and in my mind, half the fun. It is a real pleasure and thrill unearthing a precious gem! These represent a great opportunity to capitalise on unseen gems and generate wealth, at the same time. Many decisions are required by the opal cutter, throughout the cutting process and are not always easy. This is why, it is a skill aquired over time, as this process cannot be reversed. Rough opal has become increasingly harder to get and prices have sorted due to the increasing demand, for Australian Opal and scarcity issues, along with increased mining costs. A great strategy for future growth.
